Shortly after Facebook and Twitter were breached, hackers targeted another large company – Apple.
“Facebook was not alone in this attack.”
“It is clear that others were attacked and infiltrated recently as well,” the Northern California-based company said.
In an announcement made by Apple, the company admitted that “few” numbers of its employees’ computer were infected, and insisted that no data was compromised.
The hack accordingly occurred when the employees visited a developer website in which it was exploited by a java-based malware.
“The malware was employed in an attack against Apple and other companies, and was spread through a website for software developers,” Apple said in an email.
“We identified a small number of systems within Apple that were infected and isolated them from our network.”
Apple is the latest high profiled entity to say it was the victim of cyberattacks, following similar admissions by Twitter, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post and the U.S. Department of Energy.
