Interesting way of Indian High Commission in London to prevent being spied

To protect the Indian High Commission in London’s sensitive information being spied, it has gone back to old school method – using typewriter.

Indian Commissioner to London, Jamini Bhagwati said, using typewriter is more secure way to write sensitive matters compared to electronic devices, quoted below.

“Top secret cables are never conveyed through the internet or machines with cable connections. External hard drives with tremendous amount of data storage capacity are easy to access. Therefore, top secret cables are written on the typewriter which can’t be tracked.”

Bhagwati also added, they go outside their building when discussing classified matters.

What triggers this is the revelations of Edward Snowden about NSA’s surveillance programs aimed to around the world including India’s space, nuclear programs, and politics.
