The international hacking group “anonymous,” had warned they will launch attacks on Israeli websites an operation they called as #opIsrael starting April 07. That is in response to eight day assault that killed a total of 133 Palestinians.
Anonymous claimed they have hacked 100,000 thousands of website, 40,000 Facebook, 5000 Twitter, and 30,000 bank accounts. A massive attack as they say but the Israeli officials denies serious damage.
The attack which aimed to shutdown and disrupt key sites of Israel failed said Yitzhak Ben Yisrael, of the government’s National Cyber Bureau.
“So far it is as was expected, there is hardly any real damage,” Ben Yisrael said. “Anonymous doesn’t have the skills to damage the country’s vital infrastructure. And if that was its intention, then it wouldn’t have announced the attack of time. It wants to create noise in the media about issues that are close to its heart,” he said, as quoted by the Associated Press news agency.
However, Salon reported that an anonymous spokesman commented:
Tell that to the thousands of people and orgs that will have to repair their defaced sites today. Tell that to the thousands of people who had their credit cards dumped, or passwords and logins dumped. Damage is in the eye of the beholder, if it’s YOUR shit that got wrecked or dumped it’s NOT minimal.
Government websites that are hit by the cyber attack includes, the Ministry of Defense, the Prime Minister’s Office, Central Bureau of Statistics, the Israel Secret Intelligent Service and more.
As retaliation, www.opisrael.com a site made and dedicated for the campaign #opIsrael is hacked by pro-Israeli hacker “EhIsR.”
