Ross Ulbricht: Alleged mastermind behind silkroad drugs market arrested


The website named to be “SilkRoad” has been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, it is considered to be one of the biggest dealer of drugs and other services on the internet.

“SilkRoad” which is only accessible through The Onion Router [TOR] has offered tutorials on hacking ATM machines, contact lists, for black market connections and counterfeiters, and guns and hit men for sale, stated in reports.

The drugs marketplace is said to be responsible for more than $1.2 billion transactions since early 2011.

Alleged owner and manager of the website is “Ross Ulbricht” a 29-year old graduate in the University of Pennsylvania School of Materials Science and Engineering.

Ulbricht also known as “Dread Pirate Roberts” from San Francisco has earned himself from the website 26,000 bitcoins or $3.6 million. Other reports also revealed the mastermind behind SilkRoad generated more than $80 million in commissions from running the site.

Tuesday this week, he was arrested by the FBI charged with narcotics trafficking conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy and computer hacking conspiracy.
