In an announcement by Canonical, it said that there is a security breach in its official forum and the security team is on their way fixing the issue.
“There has been a security breach on the Ubuntu Forums. The Canonical IS team is working hard as we speak to restore normal operations,” the announcement reads.
Unfortunately, the hacker have gotten all user’s local username, password, and email address from the Ubuntu Forums database. Though the passwords are not stored in plain text, the company still strongly recommends to change user passwords.
Canonical added, and emphasized that the Ubuntu One, Launchpad and other Ubuntu/Canonical services are not affected by the breach.
